Summer Bliss

Hoping everyone is having as great of a summer as I am. It feels as if our summer is flying by way too fast, but trying to enjoy atleast a glimpse of it!!!

This past January Darcy and I found many new items to sell at our open house and bazaar. So excited that we just recently made a trip to a nearby flea market in Shipshewana, IN and I found several other great finds. Getting ready for these 2 events is a year long job. Not a bad job at all, we just have to be open minded and constantly looking for new ideas etc....

Anyways, hope you are enjoying this awesome weather! Have a wonderful summer break.

A recycled Mother's Day gift made with LOVE

What you'll need:
*Used pop cans *plastic bottles
*tin cans *anything you can glue paper to
*scissors
*glue *paint/sponge brush
*colored tube sock, ribbons, buttons etc..anything to decorate with.
*newspaper/thin scrapbook paper

Thanks to my Parents (May 2010) issue where we got this idea. My 5 yr.old
daughter loved doing this. Just love ideas for being Frugal and recycling at
the same time. How can you beat that?? Gotta love it!!

Start with whatever you're going to use as a vase. (We used 3 different
types of containers.)
Cut or rip up newspapers/thin scapbooking paper and place in a container to keep less messy.
Put some glue in a container so it's easier to get the paintbrush coated.
Paint the container with glue.
Now paste on paper pieces.
Paint glue on top of pieces also so that it won't peel later.
After it's dried, decorate with ribbon, buttons, or anything you want.

I forgot to get a picture of the finished product, but they truly turned
out so cute. Not to mention it didn't take much time at all!!

They don't have to be vases....we used one for holding markers/pencils on my daughters desk. Get creative!! And what a cute gift!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Oh the Bliss of Spring

Earlier I had mentioned that Darcy and I were possibly going to be part of a craft show this March. It just seems that our Winter months are very busy and we decided it wouldn't work for us this year.

We want to take things one step at a time. Being part of the Busco bazaar was a major step for us and then being part of Tricia's open house this past fall was another major accomplishment. So, when we get use to doing this for a while, maybe just maybe we'll be able to add something else.

I so hope that everyone is enjoying this awesome weather we've had this week!! Our family is so excited to be counting down the days till spring break..13days!!!! 14 and we'll be in Gulf Shores, Alabama!! A much needed vacation for us!!

I've just recently found a blog that seemed really neat and if you're into crafts as much as I am, you might be interested in this. Check her out at www.blissfulchaosts.blogspot.com. I'm hoping that eventually when I get more time, I'll be able to post different craft ideas and projects. Until then, I'll post when I can!!!

Have a wonderful Spring.

Christmas break makeover project

Where did Christmas go?? It seems like time just keeps getting faster and faster! Did we even have Christmas and not to mention......it's a NEW YEAR! Wow, 2010 is here, how time flies.

Even though it flew by, we sure enjoyed our Christmas break with family and friends. Having the kids home for 2 wks. always leaves room for some Christmas break projects. So I'm going to let you in on what we did this break.

My oldest daughter(13yrs.) has been wanting to redo our downstairs bathroom for sometime now. She kept throwing the color blue out to me and it just wasn't cutting it with me. I needed to brainstorm before I decided to take this on. Well, before Christmas Shy and I were shopping and she kept mentioning how she loved "zebra stripe" decor. A lightbulb went off. I've got it, we'll paint the bathroom red and have zebra stripe accents. She loved it and we began to put our thoughts and ideas together and that's what the pictures are of that you just saw. We absolutely love it. My daughters love it so much they want to sleep there!!! LOL!!

These are our before and after pictures of our Christmas break makeover project. Talk about needing some much needed patience. I like to do things my way and having a 13& 5yr old helping paint stretched me a wee bit, but it was so worth it all. (Even with all the touch ups and scrubbing I had afterwards!!) The memories will last a lifetime!! That's what I love about the things we do with our kids.

Didn't Shy do an amazing job?!? I'm so proud of her. No help from mom what so ever.

All of the zebra stripe decor. was painted by my daughter. I'm so excited to start seeing the creative side of her. Since I'm constantly trying to do projects as cheaply and as creative as possible, I'm glad she's starting to realize how fun it is to throw things together that you already have, just by painting them etc...(and saving money$$$$ at the same time!!) It's amazing how the looks of something can change just by painting them!!

$15/gal red caboose paint(semi-gloss)
$7/pt black paint(semi-gloss)
$6 for a black shower curtain/liner(no pictures yet)
$2.49 zebra strip fleece blanket to hang as a shower curtain (no pictures yet)
$7.98/2 black towels at Target
--------------
total $38.47
-$13 (gift card)
_____________
$25.47

Not too shabby for a complete, new look!!

Christmas, Christmas everywhere

We just want to thank everyone who came
and made this 2009 bazaar such a fun, exciting
day for us. We already can't wait till next year.

We were asked if we would be interested in being part of a bazaar next March in C.City, IN.
This would be a great opportunity for us to become involved with. Keep checking in for more information on future open houses/bazaars.

Have a wonderful Christmas Season and a Blessed New Year!!

From our prim homes to yours!!
